Trash
Separate the garbage Separate plastics, paper, glass, and organic waste. It will not take you that much time or money and you will feel proud that you have reduced the toxic and harmful gases which enter our atmosphere. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Reduce the amount of trash you produce. Most of the stuff that you throw away can be donated and reused by other people. After all, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Reuse what you can. Stay away from plastic bags and plastic containers, and when you get something in a plastic container, use it again to store different items. Reuse jars and other packages as storage containers at home. It's better than recycling them (which uses energy) and buying a new container to do the same thing. Invest in good utensils rather than buying plastic forks and paper plates which you will throw away after one use. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Reduce the amount of trash you produce. Once in nature their active ingredients will pollute the environment with hard metals, which go into the soil, water and food. If you have to buy batteries look for ones with less mercury and heavy metals, and DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY. Go to your local electronics store, they can probably dispose them for you in a safe manner. It is always better to buy rechargeable batteries. Whenever you can buy electronics that do not use batteries. Shop according to the packaging. In most cases when we buy a new item we immediately throw away the packaging. Choose items you buy according to its packaging. It is always better to get a product that has little or no packaging. Packaging is a typical example of a precious resource that are being thrown away. Say no to the plastic bags. Keep a reusable bag in your car and bring it to the store with you. Plastic bags are non-recyclable and very bad for the environment. They need thousands of years to degrade into small toxic elements. Every time you go to the store ask for a paper bag or bring your own. Do not throw away usable things Give you old stuff to somebody that needs it. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Forget about Paper Towels You do not need to waste paper for every little spill. Get some cloth towels and use them instead. After use you can simply wash them and use them again. Avoid short-life items Before you buy something, think when you are going to see it in the trash. Next time you have to buy something on the run, buy something that you will use for longer time and has a longer life. |
